「BIFANG STUDIO」BRAND STORY
Our Origin
Bifang Studio takes its name from the Bifang bird, a legendary one-legged firebird from the Shan Hai Jing, the Classic of Mountains and Seas. It is said to have brought the first sacred fire into the world: a symbol of transformation, renewal, and the beginning of life. From that mythic flame, ancient Chinese philosophy understood the Five Elements to emerge — Wood, Fire, Earth, Gold(Metal), and Water — the foundation of everything we make.
Our Founder
Bifang Studio was founded by Su, who grew up in a family shaped by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her mother is a TCM practitioner, and incense was part of their daily life long before it became a product category.
After living in Europe, Su noticed something consistent: people were genuinely curious about Chinese wellness philosophy, the Five Elements, Feng Shui, the relationship between scent and the body, but had almost no way to access it meaningfully. That observation became the foundation of this brand.
Our Knowledge
Every formula draws from two classical texts. 《香乘》(Xiang Cheng), the Ming Dynasty encyclopedia of Chinese incense, guides our understanding of how aromatic materials interact with elemental energy. 《黄帝内经》(Huangdi Neijing), the foundational text of TCM, maps how the Five Elements connect to emotion, organ, and sensory experience. Both are consulted alongside Su's mother, whose decades of clinical practice bring these ancient principles into living context.
Our Philosophy
We reimagine incense as more than fragrance. Each blend is formulated around a specific element and emotional intention, grounded in classical knowledge and made for modern life.
Wood for growth and clarity
Fire for vitality and joy
Earth for grounding and stability
Gold for focus and release
Water for calm and renewal
Our Promise
We are dedicated to preserving authentic Chinese craftsmanship while making it accessible to a global audience. Every piece of incense is made with care: natural ingredients, traditional methods, and a genuine belief that ancient wisdom still has something essential to offer the modern home.
